CAP is a BECA designed and developed, paid apprentice program both in-school and at off-campus sites intended to develop students’ employability skills in specific areas of interest, and develop the leadership and professional skills necessary for our students to be competitive in their chosen pathway. CAP introduces the formal employment and evaluation process as well as includes cycles of professional learning throughout the experience. Approximately 80 students participate in CAP each school year during our trimester cycles.
Our program outcomes include:
- Students develop job skills in specific disciplines
- Students develop other professional skills such as writing a resume, interview practice, etc.
- Students serve as models and leaders for the student body and larger BECA community
- Students gain applicable experience with formal job application process
In-school, our students hold a variety of jobs that are supervised by BECA staff. Student positions include but are not limited to Community School Team, Main Office Assistant, Lab Assistant, ENL Club Ambassador, Technology Assistant, and more!
Our off-campus internship sites this year are:
- Center for Supportive Schools school partners (Bronx Early College Academy, The Melrose School, Grant Avenue Elementary, Teller Avenue Educational Campus)
